Divertimento for Alto Saxophone and Wind Orchestra
Manacor es una ciudad de la isla de Mallorca (Islas Baleares), que mantiene muy arraigada la cultura de sus antepasados.
La banda de música de Manacor quiere engrandecer el repertorio para saxofón y orquesta de viento, y para esto encarga a Ferrer Ferran una composición que describa el entorno de la ciudad utilizando motivos de sus grandes eventos, como es la fiesta de Sant Antoni.
Manacor Sax es un divertimento de una gran dificultad para el solista de saxofón, inspirado en tres situaciones ocurrentes en las fiestas de Sant Antoni: los demonios que representan las tentaciones a las que el santo se ve sometido, la belleza de la ciudad de Manacor y las tradicionales melodías de sus grandes fiestas.
Encargo de la “Associació Banda de Música de Manacor”, con el patrocinio de Mateu Llull Riera, para engrandecer el repertorio original para saxofón solista y orquestas de viento.
Dedicada a la “Associació Banda de Música de Manacor” por su excelente trayectoria musical y social, interpretando la parte de solista en el estreno mundial, la saxofonista de dicha banda, María Bel Serra Sunyer.
Esta composición se estrenó el día 16 de Noviembre de 2019, en el “Teatre i Auditori” de Manacor (Islas Baleares), por la Associació Banda de Manacor, dirigida por el autor, Ferrer Ferran
Manacor is a city on the island of Mallorca (Balearic Islands), which maintains the rooted culture of its ancestors.
Manacor’s wind orchestra wants to enlarge the repertoire for saxophone and wind orchestra and for this it commissions Ferrer Ferran a composition. The work has to describe the surroundings of the city of Manacor using the elements of its great events, such as the feast of Sant Antoni.
Manacor Sax is a divertimento of a great difficulty for the saxophone soloist, inspired by three situations of the feast of Sant Antoni: the demons that represent the temptations to which the saint is subjected, the beauty of the city of Manacor, and the traditional melodies of its large festivities.
Manacor Sax commissioned by the “Associació Banda de Música de Manacor”, along with the sponsorship of Mateu Llull Riera, to enhance the original repertoire for solo saxophone and wind orchestras.
The work is dedicated to the “Associació Banda de Música de Manacor” for its excellent musical and social career, performing the solo part in the world premiere the saxophonist of the wind orchestra, María Bel Serra Sunyer.
This composition premiered on November 16th, 2019, and held in the “Teatre i Auditori” of Manacor (Islas Baleares) by the “Associació Banda de Manacor”, conducted by the composer, Ferrer Ferran.
